You put your headphones on, ready for something new Time to expand your horizons, you’re tired of tried and true You got your indie essentials, got your top ten feed Got your alt-rock mag to tell you what you need But when it’s time to choose you just retreat Into the same five records again Too many choices and I can’t pick one How will I know where I should get my fun tonight Too many choices and I can’t pick one How am I gonna get my nothing done, all right You sit in front of your screen, you gotta find that show Cause everyone’s a fanboy and you’re the last to know But look at all of the sights competing for your eyes And all the images have got you hypnotized Until you snap awake and realize You watched the same old trash again Too many choices and I can’t pick one How will I know where I should get my fun tonight Too many choices and I can’t pick one How am I gonna get my nothing done, all right Once I used to have my own ideas Until I crawled into the new frontier And once I used to have a master plan It went away with my attention span So gimme lots of candy that can medicate my brain Gimme colors gimme pictures keep me entertained Oh yeah - oh yeah Here comes the weekend, we’re rockin’ out, me and you On your mark, get ready, now tell me what you wanna do Too many choices and I can’t pick one How will I know where I should get my fun Too many choices and I can’t pick one How am I gonna get my nothing done, all right Too many choices and I can’t pick one How will I know where I should get my fun Too many choices and I can’t pick one What will I do now that my song is done

Thanks for inviting me, it’s sure nice to get out I know I tend to hide, but deep inside I’m a social gadabout This party’s happening, and I owe it all to you But just when I start to chill I feel the spill of lager on my shoe It’s Larry, what fun - he’s already wasted and the night has just begun Oh, no - It happens every time I turn from partygoer into grumpy chaperone Oh, no - I’m pouring out my wine Cause someone’s got to drive Larry home I hear you saying “Jill, don’t worry ‘bout him now He’s not your cross to bear, it isn’t fair, he’ll make it home somehow,” But I can’t celebrate, watching him progress Besides you realize that he resides a mile from my address Oh Larry, all right - I guess you found your babysitter for the night Oh, no - It happens every time I turn from partygoer into grumpy chaperone Oh, no - I’m pouring out my wine Cause someone’s got to drive Larry home It’s okay, everybody has a role they gotta play This is my curse, as he goes from bad to worse I can’t be the wild child, oh no! I gotta be the nurse! And now it’s getting late, the cool kids have all gone But of course Larry’s here, he’s pierced his ear, and thrown up on the lawn I got him in the car, and got some on my blouse It’s time to say goodbye, see this is why I never leave the house Don’t worry - I’m not far - tomorrow morning we’ll come back to get his car Oh, no - It happens every time I turn from party-goer into grumpy chaperone Oh, no - I’m pouring out my wine Cause someone’s got to drive Larry home Oh, no - I’ll never be the one I can’t just have a good time, no I guess I should have known Oh, no - so much for having fun Cause someone’s got to drive Larry home

LYRICS: We threw paint on the fire, it was such an eerie sight 'Til the call went on the wire we were coloring the night So we scattered away as we dreamed of fleeting fame Turned around for one last look and watched their water kill the flame As we closed our mouths and bit our tongues the fumes made way into our lungs The smoke rose up and cleared our eyes until we finally realized We’re living in black and white, living in black and white Once upon a time I swear you and I declared we’d make it right So we entered the museum through the velvet-covered chain Like the largest mausoleum all the bodies well contained Will we ever hold a candle if we paint outside the frame Are we artist are we vandal when they cover up our name And the halls are clean and soil-free but so damn dark that we can’t see We’re living in black and white, giving in to black and white Once upon a time I swear You and I would dare to shed some light And if you don’t wanna see me, turn around, turn around And if you don’t wanna hear me, turn it down, turn it down And if you don’t wanna know you can take your things and go But I will not tear it down, no I will not tear it down We threw paint on the fire we hung faces on the wall We sang every song we knew into the crowded city hall But the offering we gave them only made them hate us more And they screamed out “Who are you to leave your footprints on our floor?” And as they tore our pictures down and threw the pieces on the ground The colors spiraled down the drain and everything was just the same Everything was just the same, everything was just the same No more living in black and white, giving into black and white Once upon a time I swear you and I declared we’d make it right Living in black and white

Now and then you're the jester in the lion's den Held and chained, kept alive to keep them entertained Even if they grant you pardon They keep a piece of you behind But when they close you down You will find I'm open all the time I will stand below you when you fall I will get behind you when you stall Oooh - And when it's time to walk away I'm going your way Now and then you realize you missed the ball again It's just your fate to get the invitation one day late Then they tell you you should smile Like that will turn your clouds to gold I have some words to tell 'em Better yet, let's leave 'em in the cold I'm not gonna tell you what to do I'm happy to be miserable with you Oooh - that's what I call a good day I'm going your way Sometimes you fight sometimes you flee Try as you might you're stuck with me But if you never had a bad day You'd never know how good it feels When everything goes right When all your open wounds have healed I will stand below you when you fall I will get behind you when you stall Oooh You know it's gonna be okay I'm going your way

Outside there is sunshine and gentle breezes blowing And endless possibilities now that morning’s begun And where the day might take us there’s just no way of knowing There’s just no way of knowing what’s to come And all we have to do is open up the door But not before we put our feet on the floor And get out of the bed where everything is sleepy and warm Get out of the bed, where nothing’s gonna bring me harm And you tell me that I’m missing out Well I don’t have no doubts, you go ahead I’m staying in bed! I know what you’re thinking, I’m wasting my potential I should be out there hyping my accomplishments instead But if motion always leads you to something consequential Essentially I’m coming out ahead And all good dreams are just a pill away So whaddya say, let’s close the shades on this day And get back in the bed, my favorite place to run and hide Get back in the bed, the only place I’m satisfied And you think I’ve fallen in a trap You can Capp me right upside the head But I’m staying in bed! You go outside you get bit by a dog, You get stung by a bee or lost in the fog You get hit by a bus or stuck in a cage Or get a spike through the head like Phineas Gage So come on baby don’t you wear no frown, Come on baby lay your big head down Come on baby wanna feel all right, Come on baby don’t you see the light Well turn it off! And get back in the bed, I’m following my own advice Get back in the bed - My lazy dreamy paradise Go ahead, boost your self-esteem Tell your running team just what I said I’m staying in bed, watching Better Off Dead with Murray Head Tell Uncle Fred I’m staying in bed – yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Turn on your cell phones, turn on your cell phones Turn up your loudest and your most obnoxious ring tones Why should you miss a call from Joe just because you’re at a show? Let all your children vacate your table They should get some exercise when they are able So let the kids play hide and seek ‘cause something’s got them awfully riled You deserve some downtime, so let the waitstaff entertain your child Because nobody matters but you, nobody matters but you Nobody wants to date you, haters gonna hate you What’s a golden child to do when nobody matters but you Gather your girlfriends, go to the city Put on your high heels everyone just looks so pretty Shoulder to shoulder, make a wall, no one can get around at all It’s time for texting, so just stop walking Why do these people look so mad, look at them gawking There’s an awning over that door, why don’t you take a break underneath Use the window like a mirror, let the patrons of the diner watch you pick your teeth Because nobody matters but you, nobody matters but you You were blessed at birth to be the queen of earth It revolves around you-know-who Nobody matters but you Go to the drugstore, buy some essentials After they ring you up say, "Oops I need some pencils!" The folks behind you will be fine - hey, that's why they call it a line Go back to find them, it takes a while Make sure no one can get around you in the aisle And when you find them on the shelf Head up and hand them to the man And when he's finally finished bagging Say, "Wait! I have a coupon for a different brand!" Because nobody matters but you, nobody matters but you (J) You can take your place atop the human race (M) You sit alone upon your padded throne (J) Nobody wants to date you, haters gonna hate you What’s a golden child to do when nobody matters but you

Ten more years, I’d do anything for ten more years To go back in time and feel this feeling When I was younger, now it sends me reeling That all of my stumbles The lost leads, the false starts The damaged goods, the broken hearts Have led me right here to you, right now, to you Let’s get a house, let’s buy a car, let’s go to Rome, let’s get a dog Let’s go do everything Let’s get in shape, let’s drink all night, let’s skinny dip, let’s start a fight Let’s go do anything Or let’s stay in bed, and feed our head And let’s agree that’s all we really want to do Cause now we’re here, all we are is you and me right here We were clinging to some broken ideal Some vague little plan of how we thought we should feel With second-hand standards I settled in, I compromised then we got strong, and we got wise But oh did it take so long, it took so long Look at me and take off the bandage No open scars, no permanent damage Embrace it all then shake it off somehow We’re here right now Ten more years, oh what I would give for ten more years Of knowing what I know today To feel this love, to feel this way No matter how long it took, how long it takes Let’s call our friends, let’s sleep all day, let’s change the world, let’s hideaway Let’s go do everything Let’s quit our jobs, let’s learn to dance, Let’s give up meat, let’s paint the fence Let’s go do anything Let’s start a band, let’s buy a shop, jump from a plane, let’s get tattoos Let’s sleep outside, let’s climb a tree, let’s write a book, let’s join a gym Let’s sell the house, let’s buy a boat, live in New York, stay out all night Let’s take the train, live off the land, go back to school, move to Japan Let’s sell it all, let’s buy it back, let’s throw a bash, let’s see a show Let’s hurry up, let’s hurry up, let’s hurry up, let’s hurry up

Looks like you had a hell of a night - go find someone to clean this mess Better take an inventory, anyone have something to confess? I got inside information but I’m not gonna share Inside information – I don’t care! Better call in Nancy Drew, she’s been known to solve a mystery Get Holmes, get Scooby-Doo, get a clue but don’t get pissed at me I got inside information that I don’t wanna know You want some information – go go go! Considering our history no surprise your eyes are eying me You gotta cut right to the chase But I’m no enemy, I won’t hide behind immunity Something is rotten in your perfect little state I’ll stand in your lineup but I won’t cooperate – no no no! The word is on the street, some people don’t know when to quit It’s rush to judgment day - you got the glove, who will it fit Oh, I got inside information that I don’t wanna know Inside information – go go go! I got inside information but I’m not gonna break Self-incrimination would be a huge mistake A fine investigation but I’m not gonna share Inside information – I don’t care!

Kids Today 03:16
Kids today - am I right? They've never worked a day in their life They don't know it feels to dig in their heels Or even grow a callous on their hand Ah, kids today will never understand Kids today - what the hell? Their lives are spent inside some safety shell They're spending their teens just staring at their screens And living in some virtual wonderland No, kids today will never understand Every generation has it better than the last So everybody's had it worse than you So you better sit and listen while we tell you 'bout the past (Really, it's the least that you can do...) We used to ride our bikes with our heads exposed, played tapes on giant stereos We’d walk to school all on our own, no internet, no mobile phones We paid for music, stood in lines, borrowed books and paid the fines And we had to scheme if we wanted to see some naked people on TV Every generation has it better than the last At least I think that’s how it’s s’posed to be But I wouldn't call them blessed, they gotta grow up in this mess I'm grateful they're the young ones, not me Kids today – am I right? They’ve never worked a day in their life They don’t know what it means to give up on their dreams... And give in to the corporate grind And know they're running out of time While singing bitter songs Screaming "What the hell is wrong With kids today, with these kids today Stupid kids today, rotten kids today..."

In the dark, eager crowds gather and wait down below They hit their mark thinking they'd rather be part of some other show Still they're asking for more How can they dance when I haven't yet finished the score Now we enter the scene, here comes the big reveal and It was all just a dream, oh but it feels more real than La, la da da da, la da da da... Every line carefully crafted with passion and rage But every time the actors take over they stray so far from the page And the story falls apart Why even try when you can't tell the lie from the art? Now we enter the scene, here comes the big reveal and It was all just a dream, oh but it feels more real than La, la da da da, la da da da... Isn't it strange, everything changes with just a single word Motivations double back reality is blurred Lights fill your eyes and the script is revised and the truth remains concealed But this is no dream, I swear, I swear this is real And the story falls apart Made up as we go but somehow we still know it by heart All is quiet on the set, one sound could break the spell and Here's another vignette, One that I'll never tell and Now we enter the scene, here comes the big reveal and It was all just a dream, oh but it feels more real than La, la da da da, la da da da...
